Hello and a warm welcome to room #222. I am extremely excited to be teaching second grade this year. I am looking forward to helping my students grow and learn, while having fun and forming friendships. I highly value the home-school connection to ensure a successful school year. Here's to teamwork!

Education and Background:- I received my BS in Elementary Education with a minor in reading from UW-Oshkosh. I am certified to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. Previously, I taught K-5 and first grade in Whitefish Bay for eight years. This is my fifth year of teaching at Ben Franklin. I am married to Don, and have three children: Katie is a senior at UW - La Crosse, Jim is a sophomore at UW - Whitewater and Olivia is a senior at Menomonee Falls High School. My family and I live in Menomonee Falls and love our great community.

Second Grade Schedule:
Each day we begin with a morning meeting and morning work. Students take part in the Literacy Block which includes
Reader's Workshop (mini lessons, independent reading, small group instruction, and individual conferencing), Writer's Workshop, Word Wall, Words Their Way, and Handwriting Without Tears. In addition, Bridges Math (number corner, problems and investigations, and work places), National Geographic Science, and Social Studies. We have two second grade intervention blocks - one for reading and one for math. Our lunch begins at 12:30, followed by recess until 1:10. Specials are scattered throughout the day - Art (Tuesday), Guidance (Thursday), Library (Monday), Music (Monday and Friday) and Physical Education (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Dismissal is at 3:45.

Contact Information: I can be reached by email at eisejul@sdmfschools.org. The school phone number is 262-255-8470.

Our Classroom Goals:
Reading - By the end of second grade, 100% of our class will read at an independent level of L or above as measured by the end of the year running records.

Math - By the end of second grade, 100% of our class will be proficient (A for achieving) on all Math I Can Statements.

Our Classroom Promise:
We are STATESMEN! We are respectful, responsible, and safe. We listen, do our best work, and help one another to learn.
